About that Easter Story…

March 27, 2016

Hope everyone is having a good easter today! I’m spending the day eating candy and chocolate with family, so no complaints here.

However, just in case the discussion may veer into the religious lane, I’ll be brushing up on the biblical easter story (and it’s many inconsistencies) courtesy of Matt Barsotti:

It’s funny – to me, Easter is just one of those days that comes and goes. If you’re lucky, you get a chocolate bunny or some candy Easter eggs, but beyond that I fail to understand the continued celebration of some rumor about a zombie. I actually had someone recently tell me, verbatim: “I can’t wait for Jesus to come back!” Frozen smile stuck on my face because I didn’t want to be mean and cruel, all I could think was “good luck with that”.

Yep I know the feeling! Though I have a lot of religious family so that’s not an entirely rare occurrence.

Yeah, I have to admit that I’m slowly but surely losing my previously laissez-faire approach in view of the persistent assault on our very way of life. I was raised to have some decent manners – which is pretty much all that stands between me and laughing like a hyena whenever someone even so much as mentions the word “creationism”. And don’t even get me started on the shades of crazy responsible for people believing that our ancestors cohabited with dinosaurs and RODE THEM WITH SADDLES. 0_0

Yeah I’ve never been one to really hide my opinion on something, of course not to the point of being insulting.
As for the dinosaur riders, one side of my family went to that creation museum and “Had a wonderful time!”. Thanks for the comments. 🙂

Personally, I find it both insufferable and insulting that institutions that teach creationism are even allowed to attach labels like “university”. To say nothing of the irony that all the patrons of this museum and others like it seem to find no fault with the notion of the sheer audacity to waste such a substantial amount of money on something that doesn’t help people who are truly in need.
